The Women's Fall 2013 Must Have Trends| Part 1
![]() |
Versace, Chanel, Jeremy Scott, Saint Laurent |
Punk & Rebel: Whether it be hardcore punk or rebel, designers were definitely feeling like revealing their rebellious side of their brands. Some turned punk into vunk (a.k.a Versace Punk) - the definition of a sexy rebel - while others let out a wilder side in their designs like Jeremy Scott's gooey monster prints. Chanel kept it rebel with a luxury class, and Saint Laurent infused a grungy l'air into his fall looks with those so talked about baby doll dresses we've all heard by now.
Style Tip: Whether you're feeling this new trend or not, just add a little plaid and punk-y accessories to play around at your discretion. It shouldn't be difficult to search for these accessories, but all you need is your creativity and personal style to make you a woman who implements a style trend impeccably. We guarantee you'll be loving this trend.
Fur-licious: Fur has been bigger than ever this season that it seems the economy has been doing great. While some may not be in favor of this trend, all we can say is choosing the perfect fur coat could definitely put you on the map of streetstyle photographers this season because fur speaks for itself. Fendi - the best fur in the luxury market - brought a punk vibe to their high-technical fur coats as did Roberto Cavalli's dyed coat. Sporstmax and Rachel Zoe were just some of the few who delivered one of the best short fur coats.
Relaxed Coats: Don't be afraid to go loose on your coats this season. Relax and let your coat fall on you like a queen. Coats this season will be stronger than ever and in COLOR! Designers seemed to have turned coats into a colorful, feminine, and somewhat seductive piece to inject into your fall 2013 looks. More than anything else, coats made a wider presence than any other item of clothing you could have imagined; in shorter terms, you need invest in a great coat ASAP.
When it comes to searching for the perfect minimalistic coat, leave it to Jil Sander who had one of the best in her fall 2013 collection. That perfectly cut coat and blue tone will surely last you forever. Or you could elevate the search for a super trendy pink-textured Miu Miu coat with those polka dot scarfs that will be a streetstyle sensation. Gucci opted to give that sensational baby-blue and black detailed collar a somewhat masculine but powerful statement. Cline wasn't left behind with a series of coats, like one pink-blush coat that were one of the best we had seen so far from the brand. Other designers also had good numbers that would make it difficult to choose from unless money is not such a problem. Get me 10 pieces please.
Men's Fabric: Being that the punk influence was present on many runways, it wasn't so surprising to see designers implementing other masculine patterns into their collections. From plaid, houndstooth, prince of whales, windowpanes, to checked patterns were just some of the men's fabric inspirations designers mixed with feminine looks. Alberta Ferretti took a navy patterned design to turn into a beautiful subtle coat any woman wouldn't mind following this trend. Tommy Hilfiger chose to give his patterns a preppy look, while Lanvin went for an avant garde masculine touch and Dolce & Gabbana injected a feminine domination over those menswear patterns.
As you can tell, just because we're saying men's fabric it doesn't mean you have to dress like a man. You can still keep your feminine roots over a great patterned men's number.
Animal & Floral Prints: Not only were men's fabric the new trend of the season, but in case you were wondering their were also two major feminine prints that made their presence in many presentations. Animal prints - specifically a feline print - were seen throughout collections like Giambattista Valli and Burberry Prorsum. Burberry designer, Christopher Bailey, gave more excitement to these luxury animal prints than any other designer. Valentino wouldn't have been a collection with a series of beautiful floral designs the duo presented, while Riccardo Tisci of Givenchy imbued a dark romantic touch to his floral outerwear jackets.
Tomboy Attitude: You probably guessed it right. If men's fabric patterns were a hit on the runway, there had to be a tomboy trend present for this fall. Alexander Wang gave a rough tomboy look to his designs, which is difficult not to see coming from Wang, whilst Dsquared2 went with men's formalwear looks. Rebecca Minkoff and Stella McCartney infused a girly and tomboy look at the same time. Which do you go for?
Streetstyle Officewear: Streetstyle has become a cool influence for the new generations of luxury fans. So why not take your office wear attire to the streets and be photographed wearing the most awesome outfits we crave for? Proenza Schouler gave its trendy round shoulder coats a must have for any office to streetstyle occasicon; streetstyle runs in their roots. Carven's pink ensemble finished the look with those unique white shoes, while Altuzzara's white piece number gave a totally different attitude with those low boots, or high thigh white boots if you saw the collection. What took the crown though this season was Balenciaga's cracked marble designs that would be fit for any important meeting. We'd love to see someone in our office like that.
High Gloss: Don't forget to polish your skirts or tops this fall. In case you'd like to go for a similar look like Gucci's high gloss satin top without paying a good amount of money, satin fabric is your must go to fabric if you love designing your own clothes. Leather may be difficult to obtain at such a high gloss standards like Jonathan Saunders shiny top or Salvatore Ferragamo's purple leather skirt.
Color-Block: This trend is all about geometric patterns as some like to call it. You could invest in a great 3.1 Phillip Lim pink/white/black leather coat that is becoming quite popular, Antono Berardi's sheer cut dress, Derek Lam's must have figure hugging cashmere sweaters, or DKNY's sporty sweater. And maybe you may just have already a good piece hidden in your closet that now calls for the right season to use it.
Turtlenecks: Oh my, the turtlenecks. Turtlenecks may not be for everyone, but designers were surely pushing for this trend to make it into fall's 2013 must have trend. Take it to a sensual level like Donna Karan's gray velvet dress or Victoria Beckham's striking knitwear turtleneck. You could make it chic as always like Ralph Lauren's black knitted number or Christian Dior's intricate one. Which ever route you decide to take, confidence is what will bring out this stated trend.
Tailored-Cropped Trousers: The key to this trends is to have your pants cut just above your ankle and fitted very well. Narciso Rodriguez's colored-cropped trousers were one of the best we had seen so far from this designer. Prabal Gurung took floral printed denim to something women will be wishing for, while N.21 and Jason Wu had something interesting in their trousers; it may have been the manner in which they styled it.
High-Slits/ Below the Knee Skirts: Who said below the knee skirts were boring and for old woman? When they come with high-slits we don't find nothing boring in them. In fact, we find a flirty mix between sophistication and sensuality. And if you're not feeling the high-slits, make it fun and youthful like Burberry's camel studded skirt, or simply provocative like Victoria Beckham's tight hugging dark brown skirt paired with a high-slit top.
Vintage Elegance: As you may tell, there was some sort of vintage essence in the fabric, design, and structure designers went for this season. It may be time to hit a vintage boutique to shop around beautiful pieces of elegant collections this fall. Nina Ricci's suit designs, like a beautiful vivid red suit, and choice of fabric sent a strong message of timeless luxury, while Oscar de la Renta's black draped suit stated vintage luxury all around. Bottega Veneta's semi-unstitched embroidered dress and Prada's asymmetric gray coat and detailed sleeves were just some more beautiful pieces to look around this fall.
Sophisticated Sleepwear: We know a girl can sometimes feel lazy to search for something to wear. Leave it up to Marc Jacobs pajama-like uniform, Louis Vuitton's velvet embroidered sleep gown, Paco Rabbane's laced slip dress, or Rochas' silk pajama to do the work. The goal here is to not make this trend make you look like you just go out of bed or feel MUSTY. It won't work for everyone, for we'd rather go luxury to achieve the trend.
Gray, Black, White, & Black/White: The three most basic colors to wear this season are definitely gray, black, and white. DO NOT be afraid to dress in any one of these colors from head to toe. Go for different shades of the same color to nail the look like Carolina Herrera's detailed gray coat and heels. And in case you want to pair two different basic colors, Black/White combinations made a presence on the runway like Herms full look.
Total Package: You may have been looking for the real colors of the season to brighten up your fall wardrobe here. Well take note because pink, burgundy, green, violet, and blue are the colors of the season. You probably saw most of them throughout this post, and will see them even more when retails began to make available the new fall collections.
Superb Embellishment: Because luxury is a trend as well, highly luxurious embroidered numbers were made present for those luxury customers this fall. Dries Van Noten pink feather embroidered dress was a must see. Tom Ford's return to the runway came stronger than ever with those embroidered zipped sweaters; not your average ones. We all know how much Dolce & Gabbana's new red embroidered dress will cost - $50,000 for the price of one. Balmain's embellished suit jacket probably won't come too affordable either, for we all know you can expect a draped pink mini skirt for $3,000. How much will this one be then? If you want luxury, you now know to seek for highly innovative embroidery.

Recap: The Spring 2013 Trends You Should be Wearing Now
![]() |
Spring 2013 Cropped Top Trend: Alexander Wang// Louis Vuitton// Balmain |
1. Cropped Tops
You probably have already seen a majority of celebrities wearing their cropped tops in various events, such as Selena Gomez and Katy Perry showing off their structured figures. Overall, it may not be a trend fitted for everyone - very popular though - when it comes time to revealing abdominal skin. One thing I know is most probably don't give a damn. Enjoy at your convenience. That's all.
Alexander Wang made his white cropped top very playful and provocative at the same time, whilst Louis Vuitton's check mate and Balmain's denim top were quite different. I'd say Wang's top is worth the investment.

Spring 2013 Ruffles Trend: Gucci// Balenciaga// Givenchy |
2. Ruffles
Ruffles this season should declare femininity; no drama. More than just sensual femininity, make them the protagonist of what you decide to wear. Just as a luxurious skirt, make those ruffles be worth millions. To achieve this goal, several trial and errors should occur to get the perfect one fit for a queen.
Gucci's spring collection was all about the ruffles - sophisticated and luxuriously effortless. Nicholas Ghesquiere's last collection for Balenciaga was a ruffled party. I have yet to see someone ordinary wearing this beautiful skirt above. Givenchy's inspired catholic roots added a soothing feel to its ruffles.

Spring 2013 Suit Trends: Christian Dior// Saint Laurent// Stella McCartney |
3. Le Smoking
Dior and Saint Laurent's Spring collection have revolutionized the market of women's suits. Now women are looking more towards a suit as their secret weapon. Whether you decide to go fitted, classical, or relaxed - as long as you can work that smoking, you'll be the trendiest people of all. If you decide to wear nothing but the suit, make that thing work.
Hedi Slimane of Saint Laurent showed one of the best luscious fitting jackets that only the house of YSL was once a legend of. Dior's creative director, Raf Simons' interpreted the feminine suits that were tailored impeccably, just as Mr. Christian Dior had once done when running his brand. Stella McCartney opted to present a slouchier version of the iconic smokings, giving it a more athletic and street style look.

Spring 2013 Stripes Trend: Marc Jacobs// Dolce & Gabbana// Rachel Zoe |
4. Stripes
I've lost the count of how many celebrities and streetstyle photographers have been shot in this trend. If you have seen it more than twenty times in different people, then it probably is something you should incorporate somewhere in your outfit to join the gang. Creativity and uniqueness is what counts in case you are not one of those who like to copy. Don't make those stripes boring. Make them scream.
Marc Jacobs certainly knew how to attract someone with stripes. Dolce & Gabbana sicilian traditional collection had a lovely statements to those vibrant, colorful stripes, whilst Rachel Zoe gave some statement to her pants.

Spring 2013 Shorts Trend: DKNY// Alexander Wang// Nicole Miller |
5. Bermuda Shorts
More designers are feeling the sense to design menswear inspiration in women's collection. These shorts should definitely be worn with precaution in my opinion. Not blending in the right feminine elements will make you seem as a boy as I've seen in several around my neighborhood. Here is where creativity severely counts for many. Make them tough, but keep that womanly touch.
DKNY and Alexander Wang offered that tomboy appeal without leaving the feminine attitude. Details are what matter the most to achieve the look. Nicole Miller's look was more chic and relatable to most.

Spring 2013 Gladiator Shoes Trend: Versace// Roberto Cavalli// Altuzarra |
6. Gladiator Heels
Any type of gladiator inspired shoes should be on the top of your list. You probably have already seen this at many retail stores if you shop occasionally. Whether you go luxury or affordable, you'll find one that best fits your budget - I assure you that.
Versace's gladiator heels will probably be one of the most trending heels for partywear, or more than that. What I found interesting about Roberto Cavalli's white heels were that although the shoes may have seemed simple for some, the closer details are worth everything just like Altuzarra's high heels.

Spring 2013 Asian Influence Trend: Prada// Etro// Emilio Pucci |
7. Asian Influence
Prints and construction have had a major impact this spring on Asian cultures. Whether you go kimono, print, or origami, there will be something out there for you to indulge in.
Prada's Asian origami construction was by far one of the best collections for many. It may be bizarre for some, but that's just what Prada is. You have to experiment with it before you judge it. Etro's kimono print added spice to the trend, while Peter Dundas of Emilio Pucci dragon print dress spoke for itself; no construction needed.

Spring 2013 Double-Slit Trend: Roberto Cavalli// Michael Kors// Fendi |
8. Double Slits are What Matter
It's not just about one slit, but two slits. The higher the slit the more provocative it'll be. You decide how far you want your slits to go.
If I had to state who would take the crown as the best double-slit dresses, I'd say with no doubt Roberto Cavalli. Vibrant silk prints, lace details, and craftmanship appeared delicate itself - made only for a woman. Michael Kors' navy number and Fendi's chic leather dress could be one of the outfits you may catch soon in other street style blogs.

Spring 2013 Sheer Fabric Trend: Victoria Beckham// Alberta Ferretti// Valentino |
9. Sheer Here and There
If you're not familiar with sheer then you should be now. Sheer is not only a breathable fabric, but transparent and somewhat kinky. All I can say is that it's up to you if you want to layer an undershirt underneath your top. You could also invest in great quality dresses that work on the parts that should be covered in public.
If anyone knows how to make a woman feel curvy and seductive, it would be Victoria Beckham. Once again, she delivered another outstanding collection many women will emulate. You don't need much sheer when your dress fits well and shows a little skin here and there. Alberta Ferretti gave another interpretation of pure sheer. Sheer cannot only be sexy, it can also be delicate layered. And if you were looking for the perfect sheer shirt, Valentino has one for you - crisp white and intimate.

Spring 2013 Digital Prints Trend: Prabal Gurung// Proenza Schouler// Mary Katrantzou |
10. Digital Prints
Spring could not be anything without graphic prints. If anything, I find this a more related trend most women will be very pleased with. Don't want to make a statement with stripes....make it with these special prints.
Prabal Gurung may have been the creator of this graphical prints which look so vibrant and full of life. Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough of Proenza Schouler gave a life of itself to this dress detailed in colored studs and silver grommets, whilst Mary Katrantzou may have just made the postal service's stamps suck. These are the type of stamps we'd want.
Fall 2013 Trends | Beanie Attitude
It doesnt matter what you choose to wear it with a beanie has shown to add a definite statement to your overall outfit. It may be a simple accessory, but after all, isnt simplicity the hardest and most trendy statement?
Take for example the different looks worn above. A beanie doesnt have to be for gangsters (like the south would portray). Its creativity that counts, making you the star of what you choose.

Digital Prints are a subject of major concern for women. Would I look heavy? Would I look like a clown? Those are some questions many ask to themselves, restraining them from purchasing a statement item. Yes, prints are a subject you should wear with precaution. A print dress says enough, so why add more accessories? Here we present you some of dresses designers introduced for their spring/summer 2013 collection.
Designers brought digital prints to a whole different level this season. We could state to the max in what matters concern. Prabal Gurungs bloody widow prints presented a dark atmosphere we werent familiar with when it came to prints. Delicate flowers dripping ink symbolized that inspiration Prabal was seeking towards. Peter Pilotto has become one of the best print designer brands in the fashion industry. Celebrities are always caught wearing one of their designs, and for spring it was obvious it would get even better. Ruffles, peplum, and fabric choice made the most ultra forward fashion piece one should have in their wardrobe. Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough at Proenza Schouler offered one of their finest digital photoprints ever. They made sure to stay at the top of the season with these images of crowd scenes detailed with colored studs and silver grommets at the hem. Is there any other designer who introduced this as well, because we cant remember any one else? Mary Katrantzou also took the crme de la fleur (or however you say it) with her Asian inspired stamps. We thought it was an appealing play on prints. We would have wished there were some naughty prints as well. Do you have any comments on these designer prints?

Emilio Pucci Spring/Summer 2013 |
Sheer is one of the most worn fabrics around our city in the summer, but as clear and transparent as the runway, we yet to seek for one. Designers proved how naughty sheer can become if used correctly. Sheer was all about seduction, authority, and femininity for the spring collections. As you may have remembered from our past posts, spring/summer 2013 should be all about seduction. Emilio Pucci, an Italian house known for prints, presented various designs of sheer. Pants, dresses, and tops were all present in this collection. Prints, which were what we expected, were seen very rarely, as Peter Dundas decided to take an unusual route like other designers. The collection was not as bad as we thought it may have been. Franciso Costa at Calvin Klein gave us one of the most sexual collections the brand had presented. Each dress brought attention at the bust with kinky designs. The play of construction and lengths were the main elements. Stella McCartneys athletic dresses could not have been left behind as well. Her dresses marked attitude and style. Valentinos black sheer sleeve and lace embroidered dress below was a remarkable treasure we couldnt let go of. Akris presented a collection that should be in the minds of several street style ladies preparing for next months fashion shows. If anyone wanted to play with sheer, Akris took the crown in their ninety-one piece collection. We have a question. Would you be willing to wear an item from the Akris spring/summer 2013 collection?

Michael Kors Spring/Summer 2013 |
A slit sometimes is not enough when spring arrives. For some particular reason, women want to feel more liberal towards what they wear, but isnt that the whole reason what spring is all about? This is the same question we ask ourselves then. Why one slit, when you can add another for more presence?
Several designers opted to upgrade their past spring collection with more revealing silhouettes this season. Michael Kors navy skirt offered a more seductive secretary with those zippers. This suit could make the perfect outfit for office, zipping it inside office hours, and unzipping it outside office hours. Alexander Wang presented, as we recalled before, one the best urban dresses any street style girl should seek after. We drooled over the silver double-slit dress that marked confidence and authority anyone would be allured by. Roberto Cavalli was one of those shows that centered all its attention on the double slit dresses. Its extravagant prints, lace details, and slits combined very well. We could post the entire collection, but well have to narrow it down to two. Karmen Pedaru wore a beautiful light green silk print dress with delicate lace embroidered over it. Daria Strokous white embroidered skirt and top marked purity to the max (you know what we mean). Fendis chic leather skirt was all about color and structure ready to be caught by any street style photographer any time.
